Honda Activa has been revamped quite a few times now starting from 2000, when it was first launched with a 102cc engine which was later upgraded to a 109cc air-cooled 7.89bhp power-mill in 2009 and this version hit the market on 27 March 2009 with an ex-showroom price of the scooter was Rs. 39,800 in New Delhi, Rs. 41,300 in Pune, Rs. 41,340 in Bengaluru and Rs. 41,320 in Kolkata. The recent model of Activa comes with the same powerhouse and advanced features like combi brakes and anti-theft key shutter at a price of Rs. 46,100 in New Delhi, Rs. 47,945 in Pune, Rs. 48,927 in Bengaluru and Rs. 48,802 in Kolkata. It has been the highest selling scooter in the country, and now comes with significantly improved efficiency. It is by far the best scooter in the market. It may not be the most stylish but scores high on practicality, making it the choice of young and old alike.

Honda Activa arrived in India for the first time back in the year 2000 when it was launched in the automatic scooter market accompanied by its own brother Honda Dio. While Dio, with its dynamic outfit and lean physique, captured the attention of the Indian youth, Activa, all thanks to its well-balanced attire of style, smartness and soberness, won hearts over without any age, sex or professional barriers. Then powered by a 102cc 4-stroke 7bhp mill, this Japanese automatic encompassed features like a kick-cum-self start ignition system and puncture-resistant Tuff Up tubes, aimed at boosting the comfort and safety levels of scooters in India. With Honda Activa, began a new era in the two-wheeler industry, and a revolution as big as the one brought by the legendary Kinetic Honda was witnessed once again.

With 2009 came a major overhaul for the revolutionary scooter when significant technological advancements were introduced including the likes of Combination Braking System (CBS) and anti-theft key shutter for enhanced safety of the riders and reinforced security of the vehicle. Along with these additionals, a new power-house was also employed for this ride, which boasted of not just higher power and torque numbers but also of a better power delivery and, most importantly, a much better mileage return. Driven by a 109cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder OHC engine, the 2009 version of Honda Activa got a 15% boost in fuel-economy to flaunt, which took the overall curve to a remarkable figure of 52kmpl. And packed with a fuel-tank of 5.3 litres, this fantastic mileage rating translated into a non-stop trip of 276kms for the vehicle.

To work in synchronization with a power-mill that can spin a maximum of 7.89bhp at 7500rpm for a peak torque of 8.82Nm at 5500rpm, Activa houses a V-matic transmission system, a Viscous paper air filter and a suspension system composed of a Bottom Link mechanism for the front end and a Unit Swing mechanism for the rear both of which get paired up to a Spring Loaded Hydraulic Damper. Next to the mechanicals, major emphasis has been laid on the comfort and convenience of the riders. An 18-litre storage area under the seat, a voluminous optional inner box in the front, a large and comfortable seat designed to comply excellently with body ergonomics, an upright posture for the driver, grab-rails for the pillion-rider, CLIC (Convenient Lift-up Independent Cover) for easier access to the mechanical part and many more features that make riding a pleasure for the Activa riders have been bundled together in the scooter. In 2011, the scooter received yet another revamp but this time, it was nothing more than a minor face-lift bringing a few cosmetic upgrades along with it.
