Honda Lead Description
Honda Lead is the new scooter from the stable of the Japanese brand. This is a two-wheeler aimed for female riders as well as teenagers. It has the upmarket look for the young buyers. With this new product, the manufacturer is ready to take a new shot at the 125cc scooter segment. This scooter has an array of standard features including the dual toned body exterior and contrastive alloy wheels, optional self-start and tubeless tyres.
The scooter comes loaded with a mono-cylinder, OHC engine which is air-cooled and uses 4-stroke mechanism to drive itself. The diameter of the cylinder bore is 52.4mm and to that of each stroke is 57.8mm. The ignition type is digital CDI, and it comes with an on-board electric/kick start option. The displacement of the engine is 124.7cc. The engine produces a core power of 11bhp at 8000rpm, and the max torque is 11Nm at 6500rpm. The transmission is automatic, and it uses V-Matic mechanism for the purpose. The one with 125cc engine is capable of clocking at 80kmph which is less than the expectation. The fuel economy is expected to be higher than 25-30kmpl in city traffic.
The suspension configuration uses spring loaded hydraulic shock absorbers at either side, and the braking system uses drums on either wheel. The dimension of these drums is 130mm, and the one at the front comes fitted with CBS. The use of disc brakes would have been an added bonus, but it can do well without them too.
Lead comes in two variants, one with a 100cc engine and another with a 125cc engine. This is a small sized scooter with a wheelbase of 1238mm. The dimension of tyre in either wheel is 90/100mm with a 10 ply rating with 53J. Both the tyres are tubeless.

The exterior design of the scooter is beautiful. The new designed headlamp and tail lamp looks clean and trendy. The contrastive colored plate wrapping around footrest is another trendy design pattern. The body is free of any graphics casted in glowing metal finish. The front side indicators embedded in a v-shaped chrome plate is fitted with daytime running LEDs. The seat is designed for two riders.
Other features like sari guard and leg guard are in place. The instrument cluster is clean and stylish. The other bikes to give this a tough competition are TVS Wego, Suzuki Access and Yamaha Ray-Z.
