TVS Sport Description
The mileage bike segment of Indian bike industry is on a revival. A couple of years ago, this segment was on the anvil, alienated by the surge in power bike segment but now the tide is once again looking favorable for surfing. Anticipating a promising growth here, many of the bike manufacturers in India have redefined their strategies. TVS bikes realized that this potential segment has a lot to offer to them as a maker and TVS Sport was the result of that. The special feature of this bike is its slim frame and light weight body. It mainly targets the common Indian buyers with simple requirements and to the major extent, the youth. This two-wheeler has a 4 stroke, air-cooled, SOHC engine. This 99.7cc engine produces a 7.5bhp of power at 7500rpm, and a max torque it generates is 7.5Nm at 5000rpm. The transmission mechanism is 4 speed coupled with a wet multi-plate clutch and its ignition type is digital. The mileage it delivers is 87.7kmpl is what the manufacturer claims, however, it returns 65kmpl in city conditions and on highways it gives 70kmpl. The fuel tank capacity is 12 liters with a reserve capacity of 2 liters.
The rear 5-step adjustable shock absorbers give a choice to adjust the suspension recoil according to the road conditions uses a 79mm cylinder stroke and the telescopic shock absorber in the front uses a cylinder of 110mm for stroking off the jerk. The braking system is powered by a 130mm Dia drum at the front and at the rear wheel; it has a 110mm Dia drum. It has tubeless tyres with optional tuff-up tubes. The wheel base is 1250mm and with a curb weight of around 95kg, this is a light weight commuter bike suitable for the buyers who commute for their offices. The electric start option is available. This commuter resembles its elder sibling Star City to a large extent in features. The bike with a dual toned body graphic is available in varying colors and all Black alloy wheels which measure 2.75x17 inches at the front and 3.00x17inches at rear. The dashboard has two dials with analog display. It includes a speedometer and a fuel-gauge and revolution counter. The monochromatic backlit LED illuminates it. It serves the purpose of its launch to a large extent, however, will face a tough challenge from the likes of Bajaj Platina, Bajaj Discover and Hero Glamour PGM Fi in the segment.
